Quablom: Native to Morn as well as a number of other planets in the Morn galaxy, Quablom is a large rather smelly fruit which if dropped exudes an odor of rotting egg. Technically edible, it nevertheless causes digestive problems in most species if eaten in quantity. Settler Revolt of 31 (Morn Calendar): Thirty-one years after landfall, a group of settlers led by Theodore Crane, son of Robert Crane, human 1st generation settler who was adamantly opposed to the leadership positions which the ship’s scientists had assumed. At age twenty, Teddy Crane, probably acting on the advice of his aging father, led a group of settlers and clones alike in a desperate fight to take over the laboratories and teaching facilities that were held by the scientists. While the revolt, which ended in the slaughter of many of the young revolutionaries was unsuccessful, it did result in a number of splinter groups escaping to unexplored areas of the planet and establishing their own colonies. The scientists, calling themselves Teachers at this point, were able to locate and eradicate three of the five splinter colonies. However, two colonies remained and survived in secret. Their heroism in their continued fight for the cause will always be remembered. ![]() Slithgard: Living subterraneously, this Morn species is basically a large translucent worm – reminiscent of Earth’s common garden slug but approximately one foot in length. The slithgard diet consists of the many underground varieties of mushrooms which, incidentally, are also a key staple of the gorbul diet. Dried and ground to a fine crystalline powder called slithnass, slithgards form a food source which provides needed protein in the gorbul diet. A side effect of slithnass is a mild feeling of euphoria combined with sleepiness which seem to affect both humans and gorbuls alike. Slithnass: Protein powder produced by
drying and pulverizing slithgards into a fine crystalline dust which can be added to nambroth or various gorbul vegetable stews to provide extra protein. Slithnass stores extremely well and will keep its properties for
hundreds of years if sealed in an airtight container. Ninety percent protein, it also has a number of compounds which act
synergistically to produce feelings of euphoria and sleepiness. Slithnian: Believed
to have evolved from the silthgard, Slithnians represent the most recent sentient species
on Morn. Slithnians are worm-like in appearance with an average length of six feet. They ambulate by means of rippling a sucker
structure on their underbelly.Their head is kept upright and four small hands protrude from their upper body. Their language
is comprised of airy exhalations and hisses.
Slorth: Native to Morn, this pale blue flower is considered
quite rare as it grows only in forests and blooms only at night. It is highly valued for its rather heavy sweet scent which
somewhat resembles an extremely musky rose. Today, the slorth flower poises on the brink of extinction primarily due to irresponsible
harvesting.
Teachers: Rulers of Earth colonists, the native morn species referred to them as once-humans. Terlaki: (plural terlakis) A monetary unit of current day Morn, one terlaki is worth approximately $87.75 – depending on galactic currency fluctuations. Tilth: A plant native to Morn, tilth grows between four and five feet high. Its flat leaves are covered in fine hairs which have been known to cause rashes and which harbor the nuisance knick flies which live primarily on debris trapped in the hairs except when they are breeding at which point their bites are deep and easily become infected. The roots of the tilth weed can extend down through the soil as much as six feet. Fleshy in appearance, they are capable of crumbling rock and piercing impacted clay in search of nutrients. Nearly all parts of tilth weed are edible except for its bright yellow flowers which are highly toxic. Extremely high in protein, tilth was invaluable to the early colonists of Morn. The leaves when boiled have a texture of collard greens but with a slight taste of vinegar. The roots contain substantial amounts of a salty starch substance which can be extracted through a lengthy process of pounding and boiling. Transport: A genetically engineered flying horse used as transportation on Morn. The transport is a cross between the original horses brought by the Earth colonists and the Morn mountain lizard which is easily recognizable by its forty foot wingspan. Trellops: Rare arboreal Morn species which lives in the trees of the Blue Mantle Forest. This ancient sentient race has very little interaction with Morn’s other life forms. The Trellops are humanoid in appearance with extremely large hands as well as long fingers and toes – adapted to clinging to branches. Many Trellopians live out their entire lives in the tops of trees, all but invisible to the rest of Morn. |
